Markus Grolik wurde 1965 in München geboren.
Er machte eine diplomierte Ausbildung zum Modegrafiker und arbeitete danach zeitweilig als Kinoplakatmaler. Anschließend studierte er Kunstgeschichte und besuchte u.a. das Seminar Bild und Buch bei Prof. M. Friedrich an der Akademie der bildenden Künste, München.
Seit 1995 arbeitet er als freier Zeichner, Illustrator, Maler und Autor in München.
2003 erhielt er ein Atelierstipendium des Bayrischen Kultusministeriums.
1995 und 2004 wurden seine Arbeiten auf dem Comicsalon Erlangen mit dem renommierten ICOM Independent Comic Preis ausgezeichnet.
Mehrfach wurden seine Arbeiten auch im Ausland ausgezeichnet, u.a. Grand Prix der Papkinada in Polen, mit dem alternativen Comicpreis auf dem 8th Int. Comics Festival of Belgradeauf dem internationalen Cartoonfestival in Knokke Heist, Belgien den premio speciale Sandro Carlesso auf der Umoristi a marostica, Italien und de Niels Bugge Award Dänemark ausgezeichnet.
Seine Zeichnungen erscheinen auf online-portalen wie gmx, msn, spiegel-online und in Satirezeitschriften wie dem Nebelspalter und Eulenspiegel, in Tageszeitungen wie den Freiburger Nachrichten, Main-Echo, TAZ etc. sowie in zahlreichen Cartoonsamplern und aber auch in jeder Menge Kinderbüchern.
